  • Hot Sneaker Pickups In March

    Hot Sneaker Pickups In March

March is HERE which means another month of sneaker drops and purchases. Recently I’ve gotten into the “shoe game” and NMD and Adidas in general have become targets of my new found affection. One thing I didn’t anticipate, was not being able to buy the sneakers I wanted.  In any case the game continues and I will continue to try and hunt down the sneakers I want. So March is around the corner and there is some heat dropping, now that the Yeezy Breds and Zebras have come and gone these are the kicks i’m looking forward in March.

Adidas Iniki Runner (March 1, 2017)

A new iteration of a classic silhouette, now with a boost midsole. I can totally see these coming up alongside the NMD phenomenon that we’ve seen over the last year and a half. They are simple, sleek, and very street. I’ll be picking up a pair of the Adidas Iniki in red most likely.

Adidas Ultraboost 3.0 Triple Black (March 1, 2017)

Adidas Ultraboost have been crazy popular over the last year and if you ask most owners they will tell you that they are by far one of the most comfortable shoes money can buy. March brings the 3.0 iteration in the Triple Black colourway, expect these to sell out quick come March 1st.

Nike Air Max 90 Ultra Flyknit (March 2, 2017)

March 2nd the Air Max 90 Ultra Flyknit is set to make its debut,  with the traditional mesh and/or leather upper gets replaced with nikes’ breathable Flyknit. six colourways will be available which include an OG Infrared pair, an Olive colorway, and a multicolor option among others.

    Kith x Naked x adidas NMD City Sock 2 (March 4 and 11, 2017)

NMD NMD NMD, never ending NMD drops! And i’m ok with that lol. Adidas has caught fire the last year with their NMD series, but what made them that much hotter are all the collabs they have done with them. This collab brings in the new iteration of the City Sock, still laceless but now with a fold over detail on the inside. You can pickup these bad boys March 4th from Kith and Naked, and on March 11 everywhere else with limited release. They will be available in two colourways sandstone and pink.

so these are my picks for sneakers i may be trying to pickup in the month of March, i know there are a ton of other releases coming out like jordans and such. BUUUUUT I personally am not a jordan guy so to each their own. Happy hunting sneakerheads!

What drops are you most looking forward to in March??

  • SeeDaveTravel: CUBA – Grand Memories Varadero

SeeDaveTravel: CUBA – Grand Memories Varadero

Escaping the cold once winter hits, I would say is a necessity of life when you live in 6 month of winter. Mel and I decided that last year we were not going to spend new years in the cold at some party somewhere in Toronto. We waited for last minute deals only to realize that there are none between Dec 25-31. We hopped on to a popular online travel site and booked a one week stay at the Grand Memories in Cuba.

I haven’t been to Cuba in roughly 10 years (Damn I feel old saying that lol). A lot has changed since my last visit, most notably the introduction of the CUC (Convertible Peso). This is one of the very few complaints I have to visiting Cuba, the other being how short staffed the resort was.

The CUC is a currency invented by Cuba solely for the purpose of tourists, and as such is nothing more than a CRAZY cash grab! It’s currently worth more than most currencies in the world including CAD and USD. That being said your money doesn’t go as far as most other caribbean islands. That aside, there is one rule to live by when I travel ~Make the most of it. Otherwise you will have a terrible time!

So we did, Enjoying as much time in the Cuban sun as humanly possible. The Beaches in Varadero are some of the best in the Caribbean, with almost snow like white sand and beautiful turquoise clear water. There is nothing like enjoying a refreshing ice cold Cubata (Dark rum, coke, and a splash of lemon juice) while enjoying the hot sun and ocean.

The resort overall was nice, well kept, and had a good variety of activity areas and things do to during the day as well as night. If staying on the resort isn’t your type of thing, a $5 bus ride into Varadero city will have you mingling at some wonderful bars and clubs with live music dancing the night away. They are have some great places to eat as well as some local artisan markets where you can buy some great souvenirs.

As far as excursions, there is one in particular that if it’s available i always recommend and take during my stay to any island. THE CATAMARAN excursion is a full day affair, taking you out with roughly 50-60 other people for a day out on the ocean. Stopping for a stint of snorkeling  on a secluded reef, followed by a stay at Cayo Blanco which has beaches generally found on postcards and ads for Cuba. All with a wonderful lobster buffet lunch. A word of caution that if you don’t understand or speak any spanish you may find yourself eating horse meat if you’re not paying attention to what the chefs are saying (which is actually quite delicious). Some people opted to leave the “steak” line once I informed them of what was being served (it’s not for everyone I guess). All in all it was one of the best days while I was there.

So my advice for those that want to get away somewhere warm. If you haven’t been to Cuba, go check it out but do your research beforehand and be prepared for issues that may arise. Other than that, Cuba is really a beautiful country. So if you’ve been or are thinking of going let me know!

  • Surviving Winter With Parajumpers

    Surviving Winter With Parajumpers

Living in Canada consists of owning the crap out of the elements for 6 months out of the year. Winter hits and temperatures drop fast. Having a solid winter jacket is not only a good idea; it’s essential to keeping warm here. Luckily living in Toronto it’s not as bad as some of the other provinces. There are about 4 or 5 really awesome jacket companies producing some high quality stuff that will keep you warm all winter long.

Finding the right jacket for some can seem daunting, because it IS an investment! However it is one that is in my opinion well worth it. You can’t put a price on warmth, comfort, and quality. My justification for purchasing higher end goods such as outerwear is this; why spend $200-$400 every year or every other year for a mediocre jacket, When I can buy a jacket that will last me a long time, that is well made, functional, fashionable for a bit more. In the long run it will save you money.

    Parajumpers Dhole

As of late I find myself rocking my Parajumpers jacket for the most part. It’s light, warm, and crazy functional. Boasting a huge chest pocket with mini pockets to keep your electronics in check and anything else you could possibly want.

Parajumpers was founded in 2005, by designer Massimo Rosetti found his inspiration in a bar in Anchorage, Alaska. This is where he met a serving member of the 210th Rescue Squadron, an elite U.S. military corps trained for extreme rescues known by the nickname “PARAJUMPERS”.

Every item in the collection is inspired by the original military designs and even carries over details such as hooks and parachute clips, which embody the true spirit of the brand.

The military aspect of the design is hot right now with all the camo, olive, and neutral earth tones being released across the runways. But the best part of the details of each piece is that they are subtle. All the pieces will have longevity in your wardrobe for many seasons to come. Fashion aside, the jackets are extremely functional, again pulling from the military influence. With multiple pockets, clips, and handles.

My favorite feature of the jacket is have ~ Dhole Jacket ~ is the HUGE chest pocket that, when unzipped opens up a space between the inside and outside where you can stash all your needed belongings. Being someone that tends to carry a lot of stuff that pocket came in crazy handy!

Leather sleeves make that skin cutting wind almost non existent, along with coyote lined hood, and the down filled shell. Makes for a stylish jacket that you can wear day to day without comprising on warmth and/or function.

Honestly if you are in market for a winter jacket and are willing to invest in a good jacket this winter I would highly recommend any of the jackets in the Parajumper collection. My Dhole jacket has been keeping me warm so far this winter, and chances are for many winters to come.

You can find Parajumper jackets and clothing at any of the high end retailers below.
    • Nordstrom
    • Harry Rosen
    • Sporting Life

  • Good Scotch, Suits, The Ballet, And Fancy Breakfast In Bed For The Holidays #MDVPHOLIDAYS

Good Scotch, Suits, The Ballet, And Fancy Breakfast In Bed For The Holidays #MDVPHOLIDAYS

Every year during the holidays people are reminded to be with loved ones, appreciate good friendships, and to be kind to those around you. Mel and myself got together with Instagram couple Victoria and Peter and decided we would do a couples night out. Dinner at Bosk, an enjoyable night of ballet at The Nutcracker, overnight stay at the Shangri-la, and what would a night stay at a nice hotel be without breakfast in bed.

Starting out our day decked out in Bench for that comfy life! We couldn’t leave before kicking off a game or two of FIFA 17, as has become almost tradition every time Peter and I see each other. After getting my ass handed to me by the players of Borussia Dortmund, We made our way to the Shangri-La.

The experience at the Shangri-la I must say is unrivalled! From the moment we got there and valet our car to checking in, ordering room service, and checking out was perfect. The service was impeccable, all of the staff was attentive, and extremely helpful with any requests or concerns we had for them. The attention to detail laid down the framework for an amazing experience that night.

After checking in we all go settled into our rooms with great views of university avenue through large floor to ceiling bay windows lining the front of the room. Controlling everything in the room from the lights to the curtains via in-room Ipad kept me entertained for a good 15 min haha. A large Marble laid bathroom with a standup shower and deep inset tub made for excellent Instagram photos. All in all one of the better experiences I’ve had at a hotel.

Both Peter and I picked up suits at Le Chateau for this holiday shindig. I decided to go classic and rocked out with a black suit, black tie, and suspenders. It was nice to see they carried proper suspenders that button in instead of the crappy clip on ones I am accustomed to seeing. It made me feel 1940’s gangster haha.

After getting suited up in Peter came by the room and we decided to share a few nice glasses of Craigellachie  single malt scotch whiskey to wet the whistle before we headed down for dinner! A tasty number with clove and apple undertones, with a bit of fire to finish it off, it was a nice way to get the night started. There is nothing quite like sharing a glass of goodness and just hanging out having a few laughs and reflecting on life and all its nuances. These are the moments I live for, memories forged by the glass, with fantastic company just enjoying the subtleties of life.

Heading downstairs walking through the bustling lobby bar area, lounges full with laughing couples and varied groups of friends enjoying the beginning of the night with good strong drinks, perhaps a bottle of champaign enjoying each others company. We arrived at Bosk and were promptly seated at our table, next to a glass case wall filled with a great selection of varied wines from around the world.
Our waiter arrived shortly after we were seated to inquire about drinks, as well as giving us a brief yet informative rundown of house specials as well as personal recommendations of popular dishes on the menu. Once he left the floor manager came by and treated us to a complimentary glass of champaign, which was a nice opener for the meal ahead so it was much appreciated! We all placed our orders and got ready to eat some delicious treats. I started off with the Northern Divine Caviar which included uni, cucumber, bacon, egg, brioche. Delicately displayed on a small dish this was the perfect mixture of flavours complimenting each other, coming together wonderfully in a refreshing savoury goodness.

Next came my Grilled Octopus with shishito peppers, charred corn, chorizo romesco sauce. There are few things that get me as excited as a good plate of seafood, octopus one of my favourites with done right. Tender, cooked to perfection, the texture of the octopus mixed with the refreshing shishito peppers and romesco sauce just sent my palette straight to happy town. In between bites enjoying great banter with some of my favourite people, I think made the meal even better.

Duo of Ontario Lamb with crispy sweetbreads, forest mushroom, cabbage green pepper lamb jus was my main for the night. As far as protein goes, lamb is up there with elk and bison for me. Perfectly cooked at medium rare with all of the sides doing their jobs to compliment the natural flavours from the lamb. DELICIOUS.

Not being a big sweets guy, I opted out of dessert deciding to go back to my roots and order up a double espresso and a glass of brandy to finish off the night.

Next up we headed across the street to The Four Seasons Centre to watch THE NUTCRACKER!
what kind of holiday outing would this be if we didn’t go enjoy some classic ballet and the plethora of Christmas songs that came from it. It was very enjoyable and for any one who hasn’t seen it, I would urge to go check it out. Talented dancers, a love story, and some humour thrown in made for the perfect way to end the night!

The only way to end out a great night with amazing people filled with banter, laughs, good food and drink, is of course with room service breakfast in bed! So be grateful, not just during the holidays but all year round for the amazing people you have in your life and the joy they bring into your life!

    ~ LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH

  • Loving My New Geox boots

    Loving My New Geox boots

Getting ready for cold weather and winter in general I have found myself collecting jackets and boots. Recently I picked up a pair of Geox and i’m loving them! They look great but most importantly are so damn comfortable. I can style them with a good majority of what I wear, which is super important. The worst thing is to settle for a pair of shoes or boots, although they are functional that don’t match your style.

I would much rather wait it out and be a bit more selective until i find something that works for me. But back to these boots, they have a great rugged look, and the functionality is right up my alley. The side zipper mitigates the laces which makes me super happy because at the end of the day i’m super lazy and hate having to spend time lacing up any pair of shoes.

    Geox Outfit Look

So for all you out there trying to figure out boot situation for the coming months, pop in to your local Geox and check out their selection of boots. The have an entire line of fashionable boots and shoes that are water resistant too, because ain’t no one like wet socks!
