  • Going Grey With Prelude Salon and Spa

Going Grey With Prelude Salon and Spa

Roughly one year ago my stylist Fehmi Veli, owner of Prelude Salon and Spa in Mississauga convinced me to colour my hair for the first time. Needless to say I have been hooked on colour ever since! We went a violet pearl the first three times I got it done and I absolutely fell in love with the look.

In a week I will be off to my yearly Tokyo trip, and as such it’s about that time to get my hair did once again. This time we going grey! Working with Andrea we settled on keeping the same style I normally rock but with grey instead of violet.

The crew at Prelude Salon and Spa in Mississauga is pretty much the only people that touch my hair, like family and close friend I stay loyal to places that always do good by me and Prelude is no exception. I have been going there for the better part of a decade and not once have a left unhappy with the work they do. Also it’s rare i go in looking for the traditional touch up. Generally i show up and we try new styles, colour, and experiment. One constant is that every single time they have suggested something for me it has always ended up looking wicked, no matter how skeptical i would be of the ideas. I put my faith and my hair in their hands with confidence.

  • Nothing Like A Nice Pair Of Driving Shoes

Nothing Like A Nice Pair Of Driving Shoes

We are mid summer and boy it has been a hot one. Personally when summer hits I prefer to wear shoes that don’t require socks…depending on your style some shoes are just more comfortable and look better when worn that way.

    Geox

Recently I have teamed up with Geox to try out their shoes and give you my take on them. All I can say is….NO SOCKS!!!!

I picked myself up a pair of Xense Mox Loafers. Up until now Geox wasn’t really on my radar, but after checking them out I Bought a second pair because they so damn comfortable and their build is such good quality.

Geox shoes have what I like to call speed holes build into the bottom which increased air flow around your foot. What does this mean? My shoes don’t get that funk after wearing them without socks! WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER, finally a shoe that I don’t have to worry about taking off when I visit friends.

These loafers are pretty sweet, a full rubber sole instead of the dots give better support, built in ventilation so no more funk, and they are still stylish and go well with a well put together outfit. Dress ’em up or dress ’em down it doesn’t matter they work all around with more or less anything that I wear.

  • Hanging Out At The Rogers Cup With The Better Half

Hanging Out At The Rogers Cup With The Better Half

Recently I had a chance to go watch our home boy Milos Roanic during the Rogers Cup in Toronto. It’s nice to see the sport of tennis growing more and more every year and if you haven’t had a chance to check it out, I would urge you to go watch a match or two. Lacoste was lovely enough to invite me to attend with a entourage of other industry folks, alway nice to see familiar faces!

It was somewhat surreal getting to watch a live sporting event from a private box! I’ve never had the chance to be in one before. That being the case my girlfriend who was also in attendance decided to make a date day out of it [Thanks Lacoste]. We got to enjoy cocktails and food, and of course watch some high level tennis.

I’ve never taken a girl to a sporting event…I want to say because generally I feel like they don’t care much for sports [not in all cases]. Generally dates tend to revolve around dinner somewhere nice with fantastic food and drinks. Now my perspective has changed a little, going to a sporting event can be fun. Try it out gents and let me know how it all goes down.

The rogers cup isn’t just about watching athletes do their thing on the court, it’s a fantastic showcase for the younger players coming up in the ranks making their start in the pros. Coming up as an athlete myself I understand how hard it is to break into any sport as a career, and the enormous opportunity having a platform like the Rogers Cup to showcase your talent and be noticed. So it’s safe to say I will be going every year if not only to support our Canadian athletes.

All in all it was a fantastic experience and I would like to thank Lacoste for giving me the opportunity to attend The Rogers Cup!

  • My Love Affair With Tokyo

    My Love Affair With Tokyo

I think for those who know me personally, they know that I do in fact have a love affair with Japan [Tokyo in particular]. Many people have Tokyo or Japan list on their bucket list as a place to visit before they die.

I have been fortunate enough to have visited Tokyo every year at least once a year since 2008. From my first visit until now and most likely until i die, it will be a special place for me.
Now you may say, “but Dave there are so many places that are more beautiful, more exciting, less expensive!” and I would say you are right there, you really are! However, for me Tokyo is more than just a place to go see and visit, it’s my reset button each year.

Let me explain. Everyday I wake up and go to work for 8 hours, when I’m done work I help Mel work on her blog and take her photos and videos for her. When I’m not doing that I’m generally making content for Nextlevelgaming.ca [a recently launched gaming website I put together with some friends of mine].
On top of that I try to have a social life, see family, and find other ways to occupy my time.

For 7-14 days out of the year I go to Tokyo, and my day to day stuff disappears for that time. But something else happens while I’m there. I get motivated, seeing how hard people work there and how dedicated they are to the daily grind. I set new goals, come up with new ideas, and generally just defrag my brain in the time I’m there. Deadlines don’t matter, 100% of the time is free time, and i can just enjoy the city, people watch, eat, drink, and just enjoy myself.

How can I do that in tone of the busiest cities in the world you ask? By appreciating everything around me, filling my belly with amazing food, drinking delicious sake, and partying until today becomes tomorrow with the sunrise. Priorities change, and with it, new ideas begin to flow.

I hope that one day when I have children I can take them there and hopefully they will have a connection a kin to mine. But until then I will continue going back at least once a year! If you are interested in going to Tokyo hit me up and I will gladly give you tips and places to visit during your stay.

Stay tuned for my Favourite places to eat in Tokyo!

    Loving My New Bowties

    Follow my blog with Bloglovin

For the last 5 years a lot of nightlife going folks in Toronto have associated me with wearing a bowtie, a mixture of some I bought and some I actually made from scratch. Recently I had the opportunity to showcase some wonderful knots by Bowteo, a Milan based bowtie brand that makes some pretty cool and unique knots. below is the result of the knots I picked up. I think they look pretty good indeed!

My opinion? They  have some pretty neat designs that pull away from the traditional formal knots you might see people wearing out, they are fun and playful and just work with my personality.
